House Rules & More Importantly, Tips!
We don't really have many rules here. Why? Because we hope you will simply treat our home with the same respect we would treat yours.
1
Hot Tub
Only 6 individuals MAX in hot tub at one time. Children should be supervised and in the tub no longer than 5 minutes at a time.
Please be sure to unclip all 4 clips of top before opening, or clips will break and there will be a charge per clip.

When opening, fold front half over middle bar, then with two people, open the hot tub the rest of the way by lifting middle bar back and the top will come with it. Do not take the top fully off the hot tub as this will damage it and we don't want to have to charge guests to repair or replace. It is built to fold back one piece at a time.

No alcohol spilled in hot tub. This will turn the tub green and nasty very quickly and you won't want to get back in. Also please rinse off prior to hot tub use as skin lotions and make up will also make the hot tub green and smelly.
2
Dishwasher
The dishwasher looks odd, you will search for a place to put soap, or even how to make it work.

However, it's as simple as a gentle press of the power button on left. The dishwasher will go through a heat up process. Then hit the play button and it will run on it's own. Soap is built into the system. Dishes will be done in roughly 90 seconds and will be very hot which is how they dry so quickly.

Please be sure to gently hit the power button when complete and dishwasher will empty and turn off.
3
Soaps, towels, etc.
While we do provide two towels per room, it's never a bad idea to bring your own if you feel you may need more.

Other toiletries such as soaps and shampoos we do not provide. If anyone forgot theirs, you may find back ups in the second floor closet. These are ones others leave behind and instead of throwing them out we keep them in there should anyone need an emergency option.

There are also a few extra blankets / towels in that closet if need be.
4
Garbage
Please put all garbage, kitchen and bathrooms, in dumpster before leaving.
5
Heating
Our home is 200 years old and uses radiators for heat. Turning the heat up high will have no impact on how fast the house heats up or cools down and will instead just burn through gallons of oil. Turning the heat to a reasonable temp and the house will heat up, it does take a little time. The second floor will always be warmer as heat will rise there first. We have found that the furnace will turn off on it's own if it begins to over heart from running non-stop if the heat is turned up to a temp such as 80+. We recently found this out with a stay. If this happens please let us know so we can have someone restart it once it cools down.
6
Parking
Please do not park in front of garage, this is where guests staying in apartment above garage park. Please be sure they have a clear path to get to garage door. Main house parking has a large lot.
7
When leaving
Please be sure all windows are closed, doors are locked, heat and a/c is off. Please do not leave dirty dishes in sink. While we do have house protected with monthly pest control services, leaving dirty dishes around will attract pests of many kinds. It is, after all, a 200 year old house in Vermont.
8
Respect
Please respect our home. Being a 200 year old home, it does not take to abuse kindly. We are slowly working on renovating the house to update it so that in the future more and more families will be able to enjoy it. Please try to put things back where they were and tidy up after yourselves. Most of all, enjoy the memories made and being together as one group.
